Travel and Accommodation – get comfortable

The October edition of JDD will take place in Galaxy Hotel in Krakow. Below you can find information on getting to Krakow, finding Hotel Galaxy, and where you can stay for the duration of the conference. It's easier than you think!

Getting to Krakow

By plane

Krakow can be reached by plane through the John Paul II International Airport in Balice. About 20 airlines fly to and from Krakow including British Airways, Alitalia, Germanwings, LOT, Lufthansa, and cheap airlines such as SkyEurope, Ryanair, easyJet, and centralwings.

When choosing a flight, please consider that you can get to Krakow either from Balice airport as a destination or from Pyrzowice airport (near Katowice, 80km from Krakow) or Warsaw (Chopin Airport). If you decide to land in Pyrzowice, there is a special bus that will get you to Krakow and back. If you land in Warsaw, you will have to go by train, which takes about three hours to Krakow.

You can go from the airport to the city center by:

  • Bus
The 292 bus stop is located directly at the roundabout, in front of the passenger terminal. The trip to the Main Station takes app. 35 minutes. A ticket can be purchased from the ticket machine at the bus stop for 3,80 PLN (less than €1)
  • Taxi
There are always taxis waiting for passengers in front of the airport. The average price for a ride to the city centre is 70 PLN (around €20)
  • Train
The train stop is located app. 200 m from the passenger terminal (5 minute walk). It would take you 20 minutes and cost 12 PLN (less than €4) to get to the Krakow Main Station. Unfortunately, the train infrastructure is currently being renovated and as a result this train is currently suspended.

Find out more on the John Paul II International Airport web page.

By train

You can also travel to Krakow by train from major Polish cities such as Warsaw, Wroclaw, Poznan, Gdansk and most cities in Europe. There is a direct connection from Berlin, Vienna, Prague, etc.

Search for your connection here (your destination is Krakow Główny).
